The eclipse of 11 august 1999
     
  On the 11th of august 1999 the sun disappeared behind the earth's moon. Millions of people in Europe witnessed this event, the last eclipse of the 20th century.
After wonderful holidays spent in Slovenia, I drove to Jennersdorf in eastern Austria. During the night and early morning it rained and  rained.  I drove north in the direction of Oberwart, but i soon saw some clear skies appear over the border in Hungary. So it was not a difficult decision to cross the border.
I headed for Szombathely were i followed the blue openings between the clouds. At 10 o'clock a cristal clear sky opened with just some thin clouds nearby. Just before totality began, Klaus Busse who just came from Munchen and I, drove one kilometer south to be sure...   and cheared when totality began...
